When and how can I terminate my tenancy agreement?

If you have an open-ended tenancy agreement, regular termination is subject to the booking type you selected during the booking process and which is specified in your tenancy agreement.

1. Important Termination Deadlines (3-Month Notice Period)

There are two official termination dates. Your written notice of termination must reach us at least three months in advance.

Termination as of August 31 (Standard / Full-Year Stay):
Your written notice of termination must reach us no later than May 31.

Termination as of February 28/29 (Optional Semester Stay):
This termination date only applies if this option was explicitly selected during the booking process and is stated in your tenancy agreement. Your written notice of termination must reach us no later than November 30.

2. Formal Requirements & Submission

For your termination to be legally valid, it must be submitted in writing and with your original signature.

Please note: Terminations by telephone or by simple email cannot be accepted.

How to submit your termination (please choose one of the following options):

Option 1: Online via the Contact Form (recommended)

Download our termination template, print it out, sign it by hand, scan the document, and then upload it via our online contact form.

Option 2: By Post

Important: For documents sent by post, the official date of receipt is the date on which your letter is received by us, not the date shown on the postmark.

3. Early Termination with a Replacement Tenant (4-Week Notice Period)

If you would like to move out outside the regular termination dates, you may terminate your tenancy agreement early with four weeks' notice to the end of the month, provided that you find a suitable replacement tenant who takes over your tenancy agreement.

Important: Parking Spaces & Garage Spaces

If you have rented a parking space or garage space in addition to your apartment, please note that this is covered by a separate tenancy agreement. It does not automatically end when your apartment tenancy agreement ends and must therefore be terminated separately.
