What is the Residents' Registration Office and why do I have to register?

In Germany, you are required to register your place of residence with the Residents' Registration Office (Einwohnermeldeamt).

You should complete this process within 14 days of moving in, not after signing your rental contract.
You can register at any Residents’ Registration Office, regardless of your district.
When you move in, the House Management will provide you with the required landlord confirmation (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung).
